April Ross

April Ross has won more than one Olympic gold medal. She is among only a handful of women beach volleyball athletes to have done so. Alix klineman, who is taking part for the very first time in Tokyo's Olympics and will attempt to win her third gold medal. More than that though Ross is aiming to capture her very first Olympic gold. And at the age of 39, it could be her last opportunity to accomplish this. But she's still certain of taking top honors. If we perform at our very best or even if we play well I feel like we'll be able to win that gold medal Ross declared on NBC Boston. In addition, I'll try the chance to have chances. Ross was born in 1982, and grew up in Costa Mesa California with her mother and sister, first began playing athletics at the Newport Harbor High School. Ross was a competitive athlete in a variety of sports during her time at Newport Harbor High School. When she was a student in the prep school she was a participant in basketball, indoor volleyball and running track. She was definitely the best player in indoor volleyball. In her college profile, she was an outside-hitting hitter middle blocker, as well as a setter throughout her volleyball time during high school. Her efforts were recognized by her being named 1999 Gatorade's Circle of Champions National Players of the Year. In 2000, she was awarded the Orange County Athlete of the of the year for volleyball. Ross is currently working with Klineman from 2017 but her beach game had been established long before that. In reality, she was a winner of multiple major tournaments in the past with two different partners. one of which is the volleyball legend. From 2007-2013 she played together with Jennifer Kessy who more recently played the role of Klineman's coach. Kessy as well as Ross proved to be strong on the international arena, taking home a 2009 world title together. In 2012, the duo took silver in London's Olympic Games. Misty May Treanor and Kerri Jennings the legendary team that took home the Olympic gold medal in 2012 in London, edged each other to take home the gold. Ross was Walsh Jennings new partner after May-Treanor's departure. They went on to compete for the bronze beach volleyball trophy at the Rio Olympics in 2016 along with Walsh Jennings. Ross began her collegiate career with the USC Trojans after graduation from high school. The Trojans were a few years away from when Ross made her debut on the sand and turned professional. The Trojans had a great career for Ross in the university. In 2000, as a freshman she earned Pac-10 and NCAA The Freshman of the Year honors and earned an All-American. In addition, she helped her Trojans to make it to the Final Four. After her sophomore year she was devastated by a personal loss, yet managed to earn the honor of being named an All-American. Through her final two seasons with the Trojans she was instrumental in helping them achieve consecutive championships. The achievements of each individual have established her place as a legendary volleyball player. Ross was awarded the Honda Sports Award 2003-04 for the top female NCAA player. Ross who was who was a USC international relations major, was a star in volleyball. Unfortunately Ross mother Margie never got to see her daughter ascend to the highest levels of beach volleyball fame. Ross's mother passed away from breast carcinoma in the year 2001. Ross had just become a second-year student at USC. She is devoted to her mother who died. Margie is an inspiration on and off of the beach.
