Whitney Houston and Dana Bash
Whitney Elizabeth Houston, born 9 August 1963, to an incredibly musical family from Newark New Jersey is the daughter of gospel star Cissy Houston and John Russell Houston Jr. Also, she is the sister of the singer Dionne Warwick. In Newark, Whitney began singing with the church choir when she was a young child. When she was 15 years old, she joined her mom in singing background vocals on Chaka's smash Im Every Woman from 1978. Then she went on to join the backing vocals of Jermaine, Lou Rawls, and even her mother. Her first gig was as a lead performer for the New York-based New York Funk band Material. Her quality of vocal work attracted attention from major record label Arista where she signed up in 1983. Whitney Houston became the top-selling debut single for a new artist in the year 1985. A number of hit singles, such as Saving All My Love For You How Will I Know You Give Good Love and The Most Beautiful Love of All were released from the album, setting her up for a Beatles-beating seven consecutive US numbers one. The album sold US 3,000,000 copies and then increased to 25 million world-wide. The album brought her first of her six Grammy Awards. The Whitney album of 1987, which featured the songs The Bodyguard, I Wanna Dance With Somebody and Where Do Broken Hearts Get to, continued her success. However, it came with The Bodyguard of 1992 that turned her into one of the top-selling musicians in recent history. The movie and her role as a character was not appreciated, but the soundtrack and her rendition to Dolly's I Will Always Love You was a hit for a few months on the charts and she sold nearly 44 million albums and singles all over the world. The same year that she had her daughter Bobbi, Brown married Bobby Brown of the ex-New Edition group. It was about this time when her well-documented usage of drugs began. By 1996 she was an everyday drug user.
Dana Bash (also known as Dana Ruth Schwartz) is a CNN anchor and political reporter.
